I built started this build the day Davy Jones passed as a tribute. I was and still am a HUGE Monkees fan. I saw them twice back in the 80's and I recently got tickets to see Micky Dolez (The last remaining Monkee) in October.
For those that do not know; The Monkee mobile is an iconic, custom-built 1966 Pontiac GTO created for The Monkees TV show by designer Dean Jeffries, featuring a distinctive high windshield, extended nose, and rear seats where the trunk should be, built for zany promotional appeal alongside the popular GTO brand. There were two cars built for the show. One with a white interior and top and one with a tan top and interior. I'm not sure why there was that big a difference but it is what it is. If memory serves me right, The car without the Monkee logo was the car from the first season and the one with the door logo as seen here is from season two.
Another cool fact was that the first car was built from the GTO used in the TV series I Dream of Jeanie
Also both cars still exist today
I messed up one thing, well if I'm being fair a lot of things but the most glaring is I lost the tail light lenses and I painted the carpet the wrong color. I matched it to the seat color when in fact it was a burgundy color. Maybe someday I can find the lenses and if I do I will pull it apart and make corrections to the carpet. This kit deserves to be done correctly
Thank for taking the time to look at my silly project
