Posting your WIP
- Start a Work In Progress (WIP) thread for your entry.
- Title it like this: “The 2026 Christmas GB – (What You’re Building)”
- Using that format helps keep this year’s entries organized.
- The official rules will stay pinned (sticky) at the top of the forum until the event is finished for easy reference.
- New builds only: Your entry must be a new kit, 3D print, or scratch build started for this group build. Previously started builds are not allowed if they’re already mostly completed. Small exceptions are okay (example: a few pieces clipped from a sprue, a part primed, or a small subassembly). If you’re unsure, email us at hobbylinkinternational (at) gmail (dot) com.
- What counts as a build: Your build must include real work like sanding, filling, gluing, painting, weathering, detailing, etc.—simply assembling or printing isn’t enough to qualify.
- Theme: Entries must fit a Christmas or holiday theme—Christmas, winter, festive, snowy, cozy, Santa/North Pole vibes, holiday movies, classic seasonal characters, ornaments, winter armor/vehicles… anything that fits the season. If you’re not sure your idea fits, just ask.
- No membership required: You don’t need to be an HLI community member to join, but we’d love for you to post your progress here so everyone can follow along.
- Forum title format: If you post your entry on the HLI forum, please title it: “The 2026 Christmas GB - [Name of Your Build]” so we can easily find and track everyone’s builds.
- Livestream showcase: We’ll host a live YouTube stream on Christmas Eve to show off completed builds.
- Number of entries: Each participant may submit up to 5 completed builds.
- Photo requirements: Submit 5 to 15 photos from different angles (front, back, side, top). A clean background is strongly recommended so everything looks great on stream—photos with cluttered backgrounds may be declined.
- Brief write-up: Include a short description (4–5 sentences) with your photos. Mention the manufacturer, scale/size, paints used, and why you chose the build.
- Photo labeling: Label your photos using a three-digit format (example: 001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpg) to keep them organized.
- How to submit: Post your completed builds in the Official HLI GB Showcase Title your thread with “Completed 2026 Christmas GB – (What You’re Building)
- Start Date: January 1, 2026
- End Date: December 22, 2026 at 5:00 PM EST
- Christmas Eve Livestream Showcase: December 24, 2026 at 7:00 PM EST
- All photos and descriptions must be submitted by the December 22 deadline to be included in the livestream.
- Have fun and enjoy your build. This is a chill, positive group build and we can’t wait to see what you create.
